Reconstructing the Past, Preserving the Present, Protecting the Future!
About the SAS
If you have ever been interested in Saskatchewan archaeology and would like to
know more about it, you have come to the right place!
The Saskatoon Archaeological Society was founded in 1935 by a group of citizens
alarmed by the disappearance and destruction of archaeological resources around
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Our society has been actively engaged in
promoting archaeology, lobbying for preservation and sharing their interests and
knowledge of the past.
The members of the SAS are involved in a variety of archaeological activities.
We hold monthly meetings from October to April with a guest speaker
(the material presented covers a wide variety of topics in archaeology and
related fields). There are annual field trips to different archaeological sites
in Saskatchewan and opportunities to participate in excavations! Our society has
also gathered reference material on archaeological issues for our members to
browse and enjoy.
